About PayLens
PayLens is an independent, free set of take-home pay calculators for 19 countries. It answers one question as accurately as public rules allow: what does an employee keep from a gross salary?
Editorial standards
- Official sources only. Every rate, threshold and allowance comes from a tax authority, the law itself or a government publication, and is never typed from memory. Each calculator lists its sources with the date they were last checked.
- Tested against real examples. Automated tests lock in the figures and, wherever one is published, compare the result with an official or payroll worked example. The methodology page shows how each country was verified, and says plainly where no exact external match was available.
- Clear about limits. Each page states its assumptions and what it leaves out, and a country that is still on last year’s rules is flagged as such.
- Updated every tax year. New rules are added as a new, separately sourced and tested tax year, so earlier years stay available for comparison.
Corrections
If a figure looks wrong, please tell us, ideally with a link to the official source. See updates and corrections. Confirmed errors are fixed in the data, covered by a new test, and the source’s check date is updated.
Independence and funding
PayLens is free to use. If the site carries advertising, ads are clearly separated from the calculators and never influence any figure, ranking or comparison. No one pays to be featured.
Your data
Calculations run entirely in your browser. The salary you enter is kept in the page address (so a link reopens your result) and is not sent to a PayLens server. The site remembers your last country in your browser’s local storage only, to save you choosing it again.
With your permission, PayLens uses Google Analytics to count which pages are visited. It loads only after you accept in the cookie banner, and it receives page addresses without the part that holds your salary or other inputs. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. Embedded calculators on other sites never load analytics.
Not financial advice
PayLens gives estimates for guidance. Your payslip can differ because of your tax code, other income, benefits, local rates or payroll timing. For decisions with real consequences, check with the tax authority or a qualified adviser.
